Alma, NB at a Glance
Situated at the gates of Fundy
National Park, the town of Alma boasts accommodations and activities for
visitors to this natural wonderland. The Bay
of Fundy features the highest tides in the world, with the water rising
as much as 16 meters (52 ft.) against the shoreline. Fishing boats ride these
tides off Alma and return with fresh seafood for local restaurants. Inland,
the Fundy National Park offers hiking trails through lush forests, camping at
designated sites and the Fundy
Guild, featuring a bookstore, gift shop and information on the attractions
available in the park. Beachcombing is a popular local activity, with the Bay
of Fundy offering up a virtual trove of shells other sealife when the tide goes
out. Winter doesn't hamper activities in the area, with cross country skiing
and snowshoeing filling visitor itineraries during the colder months.
